Hello, I’m Tom Houser.

A Creative Director currently freelancing at BBC Creative on Doctor Who, Planet Earth and other bits.

Before this I spent 4.5+ years at Uncommon where I worked on The Guardian, ITV, British Airways, Pinterest, Ecover, Method, YOLT, B&Q and Wagamama amongst others.

I was part of the Grand Prix-winning British Airways team, creatively heading up the account with my creative partner. We won a fair few arrows, lions, pencils and things for our other work.

My career in a nutshell:

After studying at SCA in London, I started my career in the US as the token English guy at Havas Chicago.

After a couple of years there I returned to Britain I did stints at VCCP and Grey before ending up at Uncommon in 2018, when it was just a tiny startup of 20 people.

I have all kinds of crafty skills from my life pre-advertising. Originally I studied sculpture at Central Saint Martins, after which I worked as a set dresser and fabricated artworks for folks like Anish Kapoor, Mark Quinn and Gavin Turk. I have been known to diamanté lab coats, sew muppets from scratch and disguise West End singers as account execs in order to duet with them mid-pitch.

Formerly in a creative team with the wonderfully talented Christopher Keatinge.

I’m an SCA and Outvertising 🏳️‍🌈 mentor. Always happy to do a book crit and provide advice to up and comers.
